The Wechsler Abbreviated Scale of Intelligence (WASI) is a reliable, brief measure of intellectual ability and is suitable for 6-89 year-old in a varity of settings. It was developed by David Wechsler and published in 1999
It is conceptually linked to the WISC and the WAIS so it is possible to extrapolate from the verbal, performance and full scale IQ scores on this test to likely scores on the comprehensive batteries.
Use of the WASI should not replace detailed assessment with the broader instruments but it is appropriate for quickly measuring , general levels of cognitive functioning.
Administration[]
You can choose between a two and a four subtest format. The two subtest form takes 15 minutes and the four subtest form 30 minutes.
Standardization[]
The WASI has been standardized on a 2245 cases
Reliability[]
The reported average reliability coefficients are 0.98 for the FSIQ-4 and 0.96 for the FSIQ-2 The test-retest reliability figures are 0.92 for the FSIQ-4 and 0.88 for the FSIQ-2 Inter-rater reliability figure s are 0.98 for the Vocabulary subtest and 0.99 for the Similarities subtest.
