Visual contrast studies are undertaken in psychophysics to measure the ability of a subject to discriminate between two presented stimuli on the basis of manipulated variables such as color or brightness etc. The perception of differences establishes visual thresholds. The stimuli may be presented simultaneously or sequentially.
