Vicarious experience is the phenomenon of observing another and feeling what they feel. If we watch someone in pain to some degree we feel feel their experience. As humans we are social animals and most develop the capacity to empathise with others. We also learn by watching others through the process of observational learning and vicarious reinforcement.
