The ventromedial nucleus of the hypothalamus (sometimes referred to as the ventromedial hypothalamus) has two parts: superior and anterior.
- The superior part is responsible for satiety. This means if it is taken out of an animal, the animal will overeat because there is nothing telling the body that the animal is satisfied.
- The anterior part is responsible for the female sexual drive.
