Vasa nervorum are small arteries that provide blood supply to peripheral nerves. A decrease in blood flow through the vasa nervorum has been implicated in the development of diabetic neuropathy. Arteritis of vasa nervorum leads to mononeuritis multiplex or polyneuropathy.
