To help me do tedious tasks involved in cleaning stuff up, I use popups. On the psychology wiki, I'm actually not using the popups software directly as intended (but I do on Wikipedia and I highly recommend it), but rather I've created a bot that makes use of some awesome hidden functions the popups script is based on.

My script works by taking a feeder list of article titles which I supply via the Special:whatlinkshere pages. It loads up the article and does a search-and-replace to delink things (but the search and replace could be used to do other things if requested). Currently, the script is written so that the following patterns are delinked (where d represents any decimal digit):

• ddd0s
• ddth century
• ddst century

(And as of 17:25, 26 August 2006 (UTC)):

• Physics
• {{Wiktionary}} (not delinked, but removed entirely)
• Europe
• England
• China

I don't want to add all of the terms in the list yet so that I can check the selected replacements and make sure all is going ok before I add more. This means I may I backtrack and run over the same article more than once, but I think it's worth it just to be safe.

Also note that right now I do not have a system in place to undo all the delinking of a particular term. For instance, putting all the links to "Europe" back where they original were would mean reverting all of my edits. I'm trying to come up with an undo system. It may not be possible. In the meantime, I want to be extremely cautious to reduce false positive or links that really might relate to psychology. This is another reason for not adding too many terms all in one go.

If you see me delinking something that you believe should be linked (everything I delink will be listed on this page — it will always be updated before any changes), please post a message to my talk page immediately. I'm always in front of my computer when the bot is running and the moment I get a message to my talk page, I'll pause the script just to be safe.

Of course, if I'm not responding for some reason or you need to immediately stop my bot (and you're an administrator), you can always block my account.
