    • 1975 to 1976 MSc in Mathematical Psychology (University of Stirling): Dissertation Topic: Modelling memory for serially-ordered material.
    • 1976 to 1978 PhD in Psychology (University of Birmingham) awarded 1984 after a long delay in writing up, brought about by pressures of work Thesis Topic: Memory for serially ordered material in human short term memory.
