Ulf-Dietrich Reips is one of the pioneers of Internet-based psychological experimenting (a method used in experimental psychology). He began developing the method in 1994 and in 1995 founded the Web Experimental Psychology Lab, the first laboratory for conducting real experiments on the World Wide Web. Subsequently, he devoted his career to developing methods and tools for Internet-based research, as can be seen from his publications and Internet Science portal. His publications include Dimensions of Internet Science (2001) and Standards for Internet-based experimenting (2002). In 2005, Reips was elected the first non-North American president of the Society for Computers in Psycholology (SCiP). Reips also was one of the winners in the first German Internet literature contest in 1996, with his Websonett.
