Transposition is found in cognitive psychology, particularly in learning experiments were subjects can react to the relationship between stimuli rather than to each stimulus on an individual basis. The Rebers[1] give the example of subjects initially trained to choose a 4cm circle over a 3cm one. On a later test the choice is betwen a 4cm and a 5 cm one and they choose the 5cm circle transposing the rule 'larger than'
