Yoga is one of the six philosophies/schools of Hinduism. It also refers to many meditative and spiritual practices within the Hindu religion. There are several systems and types of yoga, among them bhakti, karma and jnana yoga. The most popular in the West is hatha yoga, a physical system of bodily and spiritual control developed by Hindu tantrics. Yoga as a means to enlightenment is central to Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.
