Trangenerational patterns of behavior are repeated within families through successive generations. The term is normally used in relationship to maladative behaviours, values, attitudes which are transmitted through mechanism such as implicit learning and social modeling via intergenerational relations such as parent child relations within the restricted social group of the family, rather than mediated by wider cultural processes.
