Thomas M Achenbach was born in 1940 in Stamford, Connecticut, United States. He is currently Professor of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Vermont, Department of Psychiatry.

He specialises in work with children and is particularly interested in the epidemiology, and developmental course of psychological disorder throughout the life span.
