The effect of temperature on animals and humans can have wide ranging physiological and psychological effects. Most organisms are designed through evolution to operate optimally within relatively narrow temperature bands, and more advance animals have systems that maintain their body temperature to fine limits in order to maintain metabolism. Both animals and man change their behavior in response to temperature changes So for example aestivation, hibernation, diapause and torpor occur in response to environmental change.
