Removal of "positive" section Edit

I noticed that a large section that I think originated from wikipedia was recently removed, specifically the section related to people who regard their abuse a positive. I actually thank you for removing it as I felt it was frankly very subversive. But I wanted to know the editor's reasoning was since this section technically had sources. I do not intend to argue with the removal at all, rather I am looking for help in formulating arguments against such views that abuse is somehow ok. Legitimus 19:57, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your question. It's a good one. I had several reasons for removing the material. To begin with, not all references are equal. For example, the Rind study cited heavily, is quite controversial and flawed (see article on this site for details). In addition, other citations are quite old and newer studies contradict. In addition, the slant of the section did not seem consistent with this article's purposed. So, these are a few of the reasons
BTW, I see you went to school in MD. I got my MSW and Ph.D. from the U. of MD at Baltimore and U of MD at College Park, respectively. Where did you go?

Frostburg man myself, though my twin brother went to College Park. I've got a follow-up question too that's been bugging me. Do you think the wikipedia counterpart got its, ah, unusual tone on purpose? or is it an accidental product of the wiki design and workings? Legitimus 16:16, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
The problem with Wikipedia is that anyone can edit. This site, if a professional site and while people certainly do not have to identify themselves, that is encouraged. Like may articles on Wikipedia on controversial subjects, I think the original article was probably a product of strong advocates on both sides, in this case pro-pedophile and those opposed....or so the talk page there seems to reflect.
