Sexual risk taking is psychosexual behavior conducted in a way that does not ensure the physical or psychological safety of the participants. The term is usual used in the context of safe sex, the practice of sexual activity in a manner that reduces the risk of infection with sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), including HIV.
It is also used in terms of ensuring contraceptive measures are taken in order to avoid pregnancy and also in the sense of taking proper measures to combat sexual exploitation and other dangers.
From a psychological point of view sexual arousal and the processes leading up to sexual intimacy can alter [[[rick perception]] and make risky behavior more likely.
