Segmental cravings are a person's wishes striving to seek gratification. These cravings can be repressed or suppressed which can cause a dissociation of the personality or a volatile summation of cravings. Because of these problems the method of psychoanalysis developed to relieve ungratifiable cravings through various affective readjustments that are appropriate for the patient and the aspects of his daily life.
