Secretion is the process of elaborating, releasing, and oozing chemicals from a cell in a gland, a secreted chemical substance or amount of substance. In contrast to excretion, the substance may have a certain function, rather than being a waste product.

Secretion from the glands of the body has various roles to play and psychologists have been interested in the processes involved and the effects of psychological factors and their later consequencs, particularly upon physical health
