Ethnicity is a predictor of schizophrenia and this has been demonstrated in Australia, Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greenland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Israel, Sweden, the United Kingdom and the United States (Read 2004).

Possible factors that link ethnicity to schizophrenia are discrimination, poverty unemployment and social isolation (Janssen et al 2003,Mallett et al, 2002).
