The right to treatment is an aspect of client rights and is the right of a person to receive treatment for any mental or physical disorder they have. It may be regarded as a human right although in some jurisdictions it is a matter of law

Historically some groups, for example, those with developmental disabilities or severe mental health problems have been denied access to health care or have been denied life saving treatment, as have members of other minority groups and prisoners.
