Early intervention in psychosis is treatment provided in the prodromal period and has been shown to have important long term consequences on the course of the condition. Much of the work has been done in the context of schizophrenia.

The idea that we can detect and preventatively treat people who may be inclined to develop psychosis was first proposed by Harry Stack Sullivan in 1927:
