In a recent review by Mian et al. (2010) suggested that three main brain regions are targeted by DBS for OCD:
- The anterior limb of the internal capsule (ALIC) and/or the ventral capsule/ventral striatum (VC/VS)2, the most common sites
- The subthalamic nucleus (STN) within the basal ganglia,
- The inferior thalamic peduncle (ITP) linking orbitofrontal cortex and thalamus
