Mechanical aptitude is a nonverbal ability, an ability to work with machinery and devices of all kinds. The aptitude may be considered to be made up of a number of elements including visuo-spatial ability, mental dexterity, logical thinking, concrete thinking etc. etc. Culturally it is often regarded as a lowlevel ability when contrasted with the ability to think abstractly.
