Maintenance therapy is a medical therapy that is designed to help a primary treatment succeed.[1] For example, supportive psychotherpay may be given to people who have a treatment resistant depression in remission in an attempt to prevent a relapse. This form of treatment is also a common approach for the management of many incurable, chronic diseases. So people may be offered outpatient treatment where [[counselling] and enrolment in expert patient programmes can help improve treatment compliance and help them manage their condition in order to reduce the chances of it worsening.
