Because clinical psychology is often based on the power of words to affect peoples thoughts, feelings and behavior one of the main tools at our disposal are the devices of logical reasoning and rhetoric. It is perhaps surprising that this is not more commonly taught as part of clinical skills modules.

Different therapies rely to different degrees on such devices. Active cognitive therapies perhaps employ logic more routinely than say psychoanalysis
