Fat fetishism, also called lipophilia involves the experience of fat, fat body parts, or just "fatness" as sexually arousing and fulfilling. DSM - V clasifies lipophilia as type of a paraphilia (lit., "beyond," [para] "love," [philia]), suggesting that the arousal is not rooted in loving friendship (philia) because it involves objectification (focusing on the "object" of the body, rather than the soul of the person). This objectification leads lipophilia to be known colloquially as "fat fetishism," even though technically DSM-V does not literally classify lipophila as a "fetish," but rather as a paraphilia. Lipophiliacs can be rhapsodic and highly aroused about fatness, roundness and softness of their partner's bodies, and the "folds" of fat (pannus) of their partner, or also of course of fat people they encounter in every day settings and experience significant attraction by virtue of the person's fatness. Some lipophiliacs may have particular obsessions such as fetishizing any or all of the following: fat bellies, fat bottocks, fat thighs, fat cheeks and faces, fat arms and fat feet etc.
