The International Network for the Availability of Scientific Publications (INASP) was established in 1992 by the International Council for Science (ICSU) to "improve access to information and knowledge through a commitment to capacity building in emerging and developing countries." [1]
In 2009 the BPS joined with INASP to make their journals available to institutions in developing countries that cannot pay for subscriptions. Some 70 institutions in 17 different countries have registered for online access.
