This page is mainly useful links and help for people that have edited Wikis before, but are still not sure about some of the more complex features of editing.

Intermediate help file collectionEdit

Here are the links to various help files that will take you to the next level. Many of these files have been written for Wikipedia which is run on the same software that the Psychology Wiki uses (MediaWiki) so bear that in mind when reading. The full collection of all help files is available from these three sites:

but it is just as well to navigate through them in this order if you are new to wikis.

More Skills to LearnEdit

If you have established the basic skills you can build on them by learning:

• More about editing in this tutorial and with a bit more detail in this paper and for good measure this one.

• More about blank pages

• How to create an account if you have not already done so.

• Copyright policy. It is as well to try and be clear about this from the beginning. This FAQ from the wikipedia site gives some guidance:

• How to copy material across from Wikipedia and other wikis.

• How to upload images either from wikipedia or from other sources.

• More about wikicities and other background issues in the FAQ.

How to avoid making some common mistakes . This is a somewhat terse article from wikia! But we are generally friendlier than this!!

Once you have a firm grasp of this stuff you are well on your way to the next level. I know it looks a bit daunting but most of it can be absorbed in a couple of sessions. The main thing is to keep editing and to use the reference material here to turn to as needed.
