Impulsiveness is the tendency to act spontaneously without too much thought.Barratt identified three main aspects: motor (acting without thinking), cognitive (quick decisions), and non-planning (present orientation).
This cognitive style is linked with a number of clinical conditions including:
- Attention deficit disorder
- Attention deficit disorder with hyperactivity
- Klepomania
- Pathological gambling
- Pyromania
