The ICD-10 Procedure Coding System (ICD-10-PCS) is a system of medical classification used for procedural codes.

It is a successor to ICD-9-CM.


Each code consists of seven alphanumeric characters:

  1. Section
  2. Body System
  3. Root Operation
  4. Body Part
  5. Approach
  6. Device
  7. Qualifier
