Hypermasculinity is a psychological term for the exaggeration of male stereotypical behaviour, such as an emphasis on strength, aggression, body hair, odour and virility. This term can be perjorative and it is important not to place a moral interpretation on whether it is desirable, only by whether it is adaptive or maladaptive. Its opposite behaviour is termed hypomasculinity.
Hypermasculine can also refer to a style of erotic art in which male character's muscles and penis/testicles are portrayed as being unrealistically huge and prominent.
