Household management is the act of overseeing the organizational, financial, and day-to-day operations of a house or estate. It differs from housekeeping, which consists of the physical maintenance and cleaning of a house.
In many cultures, the wife in a nuclear family holds the responsibility for household management. In a great house, the domestic servant responsible for household management is the majordomo or steward. As such, the majordomo is the head of the household staff.
