The main gynecological disorders dealt with by a gynaecologist are:

  1. Cancer and pre-cancerous diseases of the reproductive organs including ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterus, vagina, and vulva
  2. Infertility
  3. Menstrual disorders
    1. Amenorrhea (absent menstrual periods)
    2. Dysmenorrhoea (painful menstrual periods)
    3. Menorrhagia (heavy menstrual periods). This is a common indication for hysterectomy.
  4. Prolapse of pelvic organs
  5. Sterility
  6. Incontinence of urine.

There is some crossover in these areas. For example, a woman with incontinence may be referred to a urologist.
