Geoffrey E. Hinton is an English computer scientist, known for his work on neural networks. He was one of the inventors of the Backpropagation algorithm for training multi-layer neural networks. He is a Professor for the Univeristy of Toronto and currently teaches for the faculty of Computer Science.

Hinton was the first recipient of the Rumelhart Prize and the 2005 recipient of the IJCAI Award for Research Excellence lifetime-achievement award.
