Functional gastrointestinal disorder (FGIDs) are a group of Gastrointestinal disorders which include a number of separate idiopathic disorders which affect different part of the gastrointestinal tract.[1]

Classification

Diagnosis

The Rome process has helped to define the functional gastrointestinal disorders.[2] Successively, the Rome I, Rome II and the Rome III meetings have proposed a consensual classification system and terminology, as recommended by the Rome Coordinating Committee.

Epidemiology

Functional gastrointestinal disorders have been found in 60-70% of both Canadian and America populations.[1]
