In analytical psychology function type is an approach to personality typology developed by Carl Jung. He argued that people could be categorised into a number of types:
- The rational types who could be subdivided into feeling type or thinking type
- The irrational types who could be divided into the sensing type and intuitive types.
He also distinguished between extroverts and introverts
His ideas have subsequenty been developed by amongst others Myers-briggs and [[Kiersey].
