Fragmentation in schizophrenia is a form of thought disturbance which occurs as there is a loosening of associations in the person's thought processes. The concept-organising capacity of the mind is impaired and data cannot be assembled into logical, coherent ideas. Heinz Kohut emphasised the loss of self-cohesion in Psychosis. Kestenbaum (1986) suggests that Attention deficit disorder is closely related to schizophrenia due to the lack of fluent integration.[1]
