To my mind the ToK system can be seen as confusing the hardware aspects of genetics/physics/chemistry which it tends to emphasise with the software aspects of meaning, both personal and social. This arises in part because it tends to treat phenomena in terms of static time slices/samples rather than as dynamic processes. Do people think this is a fair criticismDr Joe Kiff - User:Lifeartist (talk) 17:27, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

  • The Justification Hypothesis at the Mind-to-Culture joint point deals with the issue of meaning. "Science," (e.g., genetics, physics, chemistry), is a particular "justification system" built upon the value of accuracy. Does this help some? Jason Bessey - Jaywin (talk) 03:53, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Something else I forgot to add: In terms of your comment on static time slices vs. dynamic processes, Gregg writes in his ToK paper:
"Each stage corresponds to a new dimension of algorithmic information sparked by a complexity building feedback loop." (p.155). Basically, the concept of "dynamic processes" is fundamentally incorporated into the ToK. Again, I hope this helps. Jason Bessey - Jaywin (talk) 15:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for this. I will be interested to see how you and Gregg expand on this on the The Justification Hypothesis page.Dr Joe Kiff - User:Lifeartist (talk) 17:31, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
