Flight into health is said to occur in psychotherapy when a client seems to make a spontaneous recovery when faced with the prospect of therapy, or of addressing particular issues at strategic points in the work. So for example someone complaining of depression may suddenly pronounce themselves well at the point when their feeling of sexual inadequacy in their marriage is about to be raised.

This may occur at the level of conscious manipulation of the circumstances, or may be regarded as occuring unconsciously, at least without insight.
