Family resemblance is the tendency for people to perceive familiar physical and behavioral similarities amongst family members. Sometimes this may ascribed as due to genetic factors, sometimes due to the transmission of transgenerational patterns, sometimes it is delivered as a social commentary, to attain social ends, with little apparent basis in reality.
