Epistemophilia is the love of knowledge, the pleasure taking in knowing.
Psychoanalytic theory
In psychoanalysis it is understood in terms of scopophilia, based on sexual curiosity, or as a sublimation of oral drives.[1]
Learning theory view
It may also be viewed as the result of a long process of conditioning, where schoalastic ability and interest have been rewarded over time and the reinforcement has lead to positive feelings, thoughts and behaviors being developed and maintained around the pursuit of knowledge.
