Egomania is the unhealthy love or preoccupation with oneself. It is an outdated term now and has generally been replaced by narcissism and narcissistic personality disorder, depending on the degree of pathology.

The term arose out of the psychoanalytic notion of the Ego, the conscious part of the personality.

It is related to the notion of an egocentric, selfcentredness

A person with egomania is said to be an egomaniac
