Personality: Self concept · Personality testing · Theories · Mind-body problem
ESTP (Extroverted Sensing Thinking Perceiving) is one of the sixteen personality types from personality type systems based on C.G. Jung, which best known are the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), Keirsey Temperament Sorter and Socionics.
Referring to Keirsey ESTPs belong to the Artisan temperament and are called "Promoters".
In Socionics ESTps belong to the club of the pragmatists, the beta Quadra and are named "Legionnaire" or Zhukov. Another notation for ESTp is SLE (which is an acronym for Sensory-Logical Extratim, referring to the cognitive functions).
Descriptor[]
ESTPs are an active type. They are dominated by extroverted sensing, a function that is tied to reality and the here and now. Their auxiliary function is introverted thinking. Introverted thinking is in essence, a function that orients itself in subjective logic and what makes sense to the individual. Those with high Ti may question things that don't make sense and are very much about the truth. Their tertiary function is extroverted feeling. Extroverted feeling is about interpersonal harmony and the feelings of other people. Fe takes the feelings of others into consideration and is more about the ethics of the group. Lastly, their inferior is introverted intuition, which is a function that concerns itself with the future and forecasting. ESTPs as a result of being super present in the here and now may struggle to have an agenda and may be anxious about their futures, instead preferring to spend their time in what they are used to, reality and the present. Aside from their generally laidback and carefee attitude, ESTPs can be terrific leaders with high expectations. That is if they discipline themselves accordingly and put themselves in a position to be the very best they can be, which many ESTPs are. They work hard but play even harder.
