Individual Crisis Intervention. When a person is particularly upset, an individual session, is warranted. With appropriate caution, EMDR can be used in a crisis intervention context (Solomon, 1998) and is further elaborated upon in the articles by Kutz and by E. Shapiro and Laub. However, psychological first aid and interventions to lower physiological arousal and agitation should first be implemented. Referral and follow-up are essential for the person in crisis.
