Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) involves further analysis of MRI data which allows for the calculation of the magnitude and direction in which water mollecules diffuse along white matter fibres. This provides new information as in conventional MRI the white matter appears homogeneous and connecting pathways between brain regions can now be more clearly identified.
