Cultural sensitivity is the atunement to the beliefs, social norms and values of people from different minority and racial and ethnic groups and cultures.

This involves being aware of cross cultural differences and racial and ethnic differences and understanding the importance to ethnic identity of ethnic values and ethnic and racial attitudes.

Cultural sensitivity and cultural competence can be fostered and improved by multicultural education and sensitivity training.
