Cultural norms involving wikis

Each generation of technology brings its own etiquette and social rules which take sometime to be socially negotiated. Over time we will develop an appropriate set of cultural norms involving wikis.

Not all wikis suscribe to all of the norms. Some wikis are like the first WikiWikiWeb, some are like Wikipedia, some are not like either. Some norms seem to be more universal, some less.

Norms currently being established are:

Norms on some other wikis, but not this one:

  • Use real names
  • Use only one name
  • Ownership of pages

Unclassified norms:

  • Remain on topic
