A countersuggestion has two meanings in psychology [1].

In general use it refers to a suggestion made to counter a previously made one.

In particular, it refers in Piagetian theory to the challenging of a childs truth assertion. In this case the countersuggestion is made to test how strong the child's belief is and to see if they are able to defend their statement.
