Liaison psychiatry, also known as consultative psychiatry or consultation-liaison psychiatry is the branch of psychiatry that specialises in the interface between other medical specialties and psychiatry, and concerns itself with patients with problems in both physical and mental health, as well as patients who may report physical symptoms as a result of a mental disorder[1].

Liaison psychiatry may also be involved in the care for acutely suicidal patients, those who have made a suicide attempt, other forms of self-harm, acute confusional or psychotic states, and many other situations.
