A number of treatment approaches for conduct disorder have been studied althogh only 70-90% of children with the disorder are thought to be in receipt of interventions.

Some clinicians take the view that conduct disorder is an appropriate response to the environment and not necessarily deviant so they promote interventions that reduce risk factors and which promote protective behaviors
