Service have been increasingly involved in the selection of traineees for courses.

Currently most of this work is being done at arms length as courses look to provide further training for users to be more directly involved.

For example on the Birmingham course a panel of users drew up the list of qualities to be assessed for in the personal suitability interview and with the interviewers devised the questions to be asked of all candidates.The list of qualities they felt were important are listed on the What makes a good clinical psychologist page

On the Coventry course users developed the list of qualities they would assess for and rated candidates while observering their the group discussion exercise.
